Still time to give your input on Leyburn Sprints Barriers

Posted: February 13, 2012

There is still time for Leyburn residents to have a say about whether or not the Leyburn Sprints Barriers which line the sprints time trial route should remain in Leyburn.
Council distributed a survey about the Barriers to all letter boxes in Leyburn in mid January 2012.

By the closing date of 3 February 2012, Council received 136 responses out of 278 surveys distributed.

“Almost half of households have responded to the survey so far,” said Acting CEO Andrew Ireland. “This is an excellent response rate which should give a balanced understanding of the views of the Leyburn community.

“However, some people have approached Council to say they did not see the original survey form.”

If you have not yet completed a survey and would like to have your input recorded, please contact Sheree Davis on 07 4661 0300 as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

The survey is being conducted following requests from some people seeking the removal of the concrete barriers, and letters from other people supporting the continuation of the permanent installation of the barriers.

“The survey responses will be collated and presented at the March 2012 Council meetings to assist Council with making a decision that reflects the wishes of the majority of Leyburn residents,” Mr Ireland said.
