Rosenthal Tower relocated for SES
The Rosenthal Lookout tower which has been closed to public access since October 2008 for safety reasons was dismantled yesterday by Southern Downs Regional Council.
“This historic tower does not meet current Australian safety guidelines and has thus been removed,” said Mayor Ron Bellingham.
The tower will be moved to Council’s Yangan Depot where it will begin a second life as a vertical exercises training tower for the Warwick State Emergency Services (SES).
“Warwick SES provides a tremendous service to this community and Council is pleased that the tower will be put to good use in a non-public area,” Cr Bellingham said.
Warwick SES group received the highest SES award in Queensland in 2011.
