Major new developments good for Southern Downs economy
Posted: August 3, 2011
Like so many other people keeping a close eye on the global economy, Southern Downs Regional Council’s Economic Development Team continues to look for ways to support local businesses.
“The recent changes to the global economy have impacted many regional centres, including the Southern Downs,” said Director of Community Services, Tony Minuti
“However when Council’s Economic Development Team researched major new constructions and re-developments within the Region over the past four years, the results were extremely positive,” Mr Minuti explained.
Within Warwick alone the estimated number of new jobs created from 20 new business constructions and 8 major re-developments has been approximately 300.
“This number is significant and has provided a steady injection of funds into our local economy at a time when it is certainly needed,” said Mr Minuti.
Stanthorpe results are just as pleasing with over 60 new jobs being created during the past three to four years.
“At a time when the local business community has weathered the effects of the recent economic storm, it is heartening to see the diverse scale of new constructions and re-developments within the Southern Downs Region.”
“Council’s Economic Development Team is committed to supporting development and investment within the Region,” Mr Minuti said.
“We are happy to provide information and advice to help local businesses expand and grow.”
