Changed pedestrian access and speed limit on McCahons Bridge, Warwick

Posted: February 20, 2012

Pedestrian access across McCahons Bridge on Victoria Street in Warwick has been partially closed until further notice following damage caused by a heavy vehicle.

A 40km per hour speed limit has been imposed on road users of the bridge.

“Half the footpath is unavailable until further notice,” said director of engineering Peter See.

“This means you can still walk over the bridge, but cyclists, motorised scooters and strollers cannot use this footpath at the moment.”

Victoria Street, Warwick, is a state controlled road.

“Our understanding is that Main Roads engineers will assess the damage today and a plan for repair will be formulated, but it is likely to remain partially closed for at least a couple of weeks.

“We suspect that at some point on Friday a heavy vehicle has driven up onto the footpath, breaking the concrete pavers,” said Mr See.

“If anyone was a witness to or has any information about the vehicle or driver which caused the damage, please contact Council on 07 4661 0300.
