Applications for community grants close this Friday

Round 2 of Council’s General Grants program closes for applications this Friday, February 17, 2012.
The General Grants Program focuses on supporting local initiatives, local organisations, and projects that enhance community wellbeing and opportunity.
Eligible community organisations are encouraged to apply for assistance for proposed activities or projects in Round 2.
In addition, Council is inviting eligible community groups planning to hold activities or events in Seniors Week 2012 (18 – 26 August), to apply for assistance in this Round up to a maximum of $150 under the Monetary Donation – Sponsorship category of the General Grants program.
Mayor Ron Bellingham offered high praise for the many groups within the region which provide services and activities that benefit the regional community.
“Through this grants program, Council is able to acknowledge the tremendous value of strong community groups, community initiatives, activities and projects to the social and economic well-being of our region,” Cr Bellingham said.
The General Grants Program offers assistance under the following categories:
Monetary Donation – Sponsorship up to $ 150
Monetary Donation – Capital Project up to $ 500
Fee Relief – Certain Council Statutory Fees up to $1000
Fee Relief – Council Disposal fees for garbage
produced at an event conducted by a Community Group up to $ 500
Application forms are available from Council offices and libraries, or by telephoning Council in Warwick (4661 0300) or Stanthorpe (4681 5500). The application form, along with information about the General Grants Program, is also available at www.southerndowns.qld.gov.au. Go to ‘Your Council’ and click on ‘Grants and Funding’.
Applications must be received by close of business on Friday, February 17, 2012 and may be lodged in person at Council offices, or posted to the Chief Executive Officer, Southern Downs Regional Council, PO Box 26, Warwick.
Faxed, emailed or incomplete applications will not be accepted, and applications submitted or postmarked after the closing date may not be considered.
