Program Objectives

The objectives of the Young Ambassadors/Youth Councillors Program are:

  • To represent young people when relating to and working with the Community Youth Worker and Southern Downs Regional Council.
  • To help young people have a sense of belonging and a ‘stake’ in the place in which they belong by raising the profile of young people within the Southern Downs region.
  • To plan and develop strategies to help young people develop social and personal skills that will assist them to move into independent and successful community living, that is, have opportunities that will make them happy.
  • To get Young People involved in Local Government and Community decision making processes
