Business Support

The Southern Downs is a great place to live and work. Council seeks to support the development of a prosperous, growing, vibrant and diverse economy. The Economic Development Unit is committed to the growth of existing businesses and to the attraction of new investment to the region with the aim of improving local wealth and employment outcomes.

The Economic Development Unit: 

  • Provides a first point of contact for advice, information and facilitation assistance for businesses contemplating expansion or establishing new ventures. 
  • Works closely with businesses, industry organisations, government agencies and regional agencies to improve business viability and competitiveness.
  • Liaises with State and Federal Government Departments to help you find out about the various assistance programs available to business and industry. 
  • Markets the regions assets to attract new investment and to present the region as a favourable place to live, work, invest and visit.
